1 Description It occurs as a white to yellowish white, practically odorless powder.
2 Identification
Test (A) Indication for a polymeric compound and distinction from locust bean gum
Test (B) Identification of constituting mannose and galactose by Thin-layer chromatography
(A) (a) Analysis 1- An opalescent, viscous dispersion results.
(B) Analysis 2- No appreciable increase in viscosity is produced.

(B) The chromatogram from the Standard solution shows, in the lower region, two clearly separated brownish or yellowish zones due to galactose and mannose in order of increasing RF value. The chromatogram from the sample solution shows two zones due to galactose and mannose.
3 Solubility It is dispersible in hot or cold water, forming a colloidal solution.
4 Arsenic Not more than 3 μg/g.
5 Lead Not more than 10 μg/g.
6 Articles of botanical origin Not more than 1.5%.
7 Acid Insoluble matter Not more than 7.0%.
8 Protein Not more than 10.0%.
9 Starch No blue color is produced.
10 Loss on Drying Not more than 15.0%.

PACKAGING

MOLGUM™ GR is packed in HDPE bag or HDPE drum with double PE liners inside having bar-coded label and tamper-evident seal.
