Application: MOLGUM™ AGA is used as a gelling agent in pharmaceutical preparations, a stabilizer and suspending agent in liquid formulations and a thickener in topical products. It is also widely used in microbiological culture media, oral formulations and controlled-release applications.

1 Appearance It occurs as powder or crumpled strips 2-5 mm wide or sometimes flakes, colorless or pale yellow, translucent, somewhat tough and difficult to break, becoming more brittle on drying.

(A) The powder presents angular fragments with numerous grains similar to those seen in the strips and flakes; some of the fragments are stained brownish violet.
(B) The liquid becomes pale yellow.
(C) A white turbidity develops within 30 min.
(D) Heat the gel thus obtained on a water-bath; it does not liquefy below 80 °C.
3 Swelling Index Not less than 10%.
4 Insoluble matter Not more than 1.0%.
5 Gelatin No turbidity appears within 10 min.
6 Loss on drying Not more than 20.0%.
7 Total ash Not more than 5.0%.

PACKAGING

MOLGUM™ AGA is packed in HDPE bag or HDPE drum with double PE liners inside having bar-coded label and tamper-evident seal.

SHELF LIFE, STORAGE AND PACKING

The shelf life is 3 years. Preserve in well-closed containers.
